Many of you are already familiar with aloe vera and its benefits for the skin. You know all about how it helps to soothe wounds and burns. But what you probably did not know is that aloe vera has been a key ingredient in the growing of long, healthy hair for centuries.

Aloe vera is a plant that grows in many places around the world. The aloe gel found inside of it contains active elements such as vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and amino acids which work together to provide numerous benefits for the hair. Many of our products (including our Moisturizing Shampoo,Edge Gel and Scalp Serum) have even been formulated with the use of aloe vera because of its antibacterial and healing properties. Some benefits of using aloe vera for hair are:

  1.      It reduces hair breakage

It is very common to lose some hair when combing or washing your hair. However, many people have reported seeing a decrease in hair loss after consistently using aloe vera in their hair care routine. You could include this wonder plant in your routine by using a shampoo infused with aloe leaf juice or by styling with an aloe hair gel that holds your edges in place without damaging your hair.  Aloe vera contains elements which help to promote growth and prevent breakage and to be honest, this is great news for those who usually cannot get through wash day without combing out a handful of hair.

  1.      Gives your hair shine

Sometimes hair can look dull and lifeless through no fault of your own.  Aloe gel contains amino acids which help to add shine and gloss to your hair. You can make a Do-It-Yourself aloe vera mask by mixing aloe gel with other ingredients like avocado and coconut oil. Mix equal parts of ingredients and apply. Cover your hair in a shower cap for about 20 minutes and then wash off.  You can do this once in 2 weeks or as often as you want to keep your hair shiny and glossy. Aloe gel can also be used alongside your gel or styling cream to add definition to your curls.

  1.      Soothes dry and itchy scalp

Aloe vera gel helps to hydrate and give an extra boost of moisture to dry hair. It can also be used to treat dandruff and reduce scalp inflammation. Some people prefer to use aloe vera in its raw form by collecting the gel from the aloe vera plant and mixing directly into the scalp. It is then left for 30 minutes to an hour before being washed out.  If you have really dry hair, you could leave the gel on overnight and wash off in the morning. For those with no access to a live aloe vera plant or if you simply don’t fancy the idea of putting raw aloe gel on your hair, you can use ourscalp serum that has been formulated with aloe vera juice to calm dry and itchy scalp. You do not need to wash this off after use. All you have to do is massage it into your hair to soothe and hydrate the scalp.

Aloe vera has unlimited benefits and it serves many purposes from nourishing to strengthening hair. The best part is, you can either decide to grow the plant inyour home and use the gel straight from the source or use our products that have already been formulated with aloe vera juice.
